'Afternoon sunlight on the red chair'

In the room with the red chair,
sunlight slants through the window.

A moment for the old chair to glow.
And I wait just to see.

All is brown and drear in the garden,

Summer is Dragonfly blue toenails

The mosaic is not one of mine. I found it in an artist's garden. I liked the curving flowerheads and as the colours complimented my toenails, out came the camera.

Creating mosaics is taking up much of my time right now. I invite you to visit my mosaic site and watch Rosalie Gascoigne talk about being an artist. Her common sense and lack of pretension about her own art is a tonic and inspiration to this chipper of tiles.

I have not forgotten about the remaining image requests and Bee, yours (a favourite book) will be up next.

As the sun rises, paddocks turn to gold.
By mid day all will look brown and scorched.

'Tutu'

Eucalyptus blossom

Walking quietly in a local bush park, a day after the Truffle Festival, I found this glorious tree. The blossoms looked like tutus as they swayed in the breeze.

I had enjoyed attending the festival and once again savouring the flavour and scent of black truffles. I had enjoyed people watching under the tall trees. It was a good day. However, with the tents and people gone, I had rain damp earth, the warble of magpies and the perfume of eucalypts all to myself again.
Edit- having read the comments, I can say yes, this is a real flower! To see more of these blossoms in all their variety click here

'Wel nine and twenty in a compaignie....'

This picture by William Blake has been with me a long time. It depicts Chaucer's Pilgrims setting out from the Tabard Inn in Southwark, London. Tonight as I sit here with just one lamp lit, the colours seem to glow. I recognise many of the characters, the Knight, the Miller, The Wife of Bath, The Nun, The pardoner and there is Chaucer himself in his red gown on a black horse at the rear of the group.
I am reminded of a wonderful time spent with family in the UK. HERE in my old blog 'Secret Hill'. Also, HERE to watch Bill Bailley's wonderful take on a 'Chaucerian' tale.
